Studio Assistant – Glaze Development
Berlin- studio Lichtenberg, August 2026
Looking for an assistant twice a week to further ongoing glaze research - mixing and glaze development.
No previous experience is necessary, but attentiveness and precision are :)
Working mostly solo, I will guide you through a process that is fast to learn.
Mixing glazes is a little like following a baking recipe: each ingredient is measured and, if experimenting, recorded.
Small changes in a recipe produce variations in colour, texture, and surface - mapping these is the task.
You preferably love Excel.
The work includes:
- mixing and preparing glazes
- organising and scheduling firings
- documenting test tiles and results
- keeping the glaze area organised
- maintaining the archive, physically and digitally (laptop is provided)
The commitment is two half-days per week in Lichtenberg, Josef-Orlopp Strasse.
You decide when to come, anytime in the week. You will mostly be alone, as I work from another studio.
You are welcome to stay for the rest of the day to pursue your own artistic work or research.
Studio materials, tools, and kiln access will be available by arrangement.
The pay is modest, so the position is best suited to someone who will benefit from access to a fully equipped studio.
If right, I would be happy to develop the occasion into a longer-term partnership, growing into other areas - making, research, and exhibition production.
There is already the possibility to join the exhibition preparations during the first two weeks of September, for which this research is essential.

If you are interested, please send a brief email outlining your experience and interest to info@veronikajanovec.com.
If a mutual fit, I will send further information, including details about the pay and the precise studio location.
I may not be able to reply promptly to every message, but I will read each one.
